Benjamin Herring Snr was the brother of J F Herring Snr, his work is always of a high standard and alike his brother concentrated on equine scenes. This charming example of loose horses before a country house illustrate Herring’s innate qualities as a draughtsman, even down to capturing the glistening sheen of the horses coat. Benjamin had a short life, however he produced some very fine works and he remains highly collected.
